Lahori Food

Lahore may be known for a great many things; the extraordinary historic sites, the common border with India, or the 1965 war. What it is most famous for, or at least has become so is the food. Be it a fresh new day or the waning hours of the night, Lahore will be up and about, streets as busy as any hour of the day, bright yellow lights lining the roads and making it better than day, and food cooking non stop at every little corner ‘hotel’, or big and fancy restaurants. It is not often that entire streets are given the name “food street”, or you find the food of your choice whenever you desire, or you find some delicacy that your Karachiite friend will swear to that you can’t find it anywhere but in Karachi, but it happens in Lahore. It is truly a city that never sleeps.
Lahoris love to go out and Lahoris love food, plain and simple. It can naturally be considered an integral part of the cultural heritage and is indeed the most popular arena to get almost any type of food anybody can think of; from traditional to Chinese, from fast food to fish to lavishly assemble and decorated ice-cream, Lahore will not disappoint you. You just have to look close enough.
Think of Lahore and what comes in mind before anything else is the roadside Karahi, the aroma of spices in the air tickling the taste buds, the rhythmic beat of knives falling on the “tawa” mixing the ingredients of ever so famous and delicious taka tak. The juicy and buttery parathas melting in your mouth, the sajji; chicken stuffed with rice and cooked with tantalizing spices. If you have nothing for dinner (or the aloo gobi many of us would rather avoid) a simple (and quite inexpensive) meal of B.B.Q tikkas and chicken wings shall make for a fabulous dinner.
Food for Lahoris is life, they enjoy every phase of it and will go anywhere and everywhere to check out the latest options, the latest variation to the traditional chicken Karahi, the all time Lahori favorite, with green chillis, finally chopped slices of ginger and garnishing of fresh coriander; available at Bonfire as well.
Those who go for the traditional appeal will love Bonfire’s B.B.Q arrangement, with the city lights and busy roads in the near distance. There is no place better to hangout , be it day or the dark hours of night with slight fog, and sizzling B.B.Q whose mere smell makes your stomach growl. Couple that picture perfect ambience with Bonfire’s splendid and delectable B.B.Q tikkas and achari botis, and you get a perfect night out with friends or family alike.
